Falgun, heralding the arrival of spring, the king of all seasons, will
be observed across the country with flowers, poems, songs and dances.
The capital will put on a colorful festive look celebrating the first
day of Bangla month Falgun with several socio-cultural organizations and
educational institutions organizing a wide range of programmes marking
the day.
During this month the nature decorates itself in a way that it seems it is celebrating itself the joy. You can feel the wind of change and the change in people’s behavior in this time. Everyone is out there with their loved and dear ones. From 1st Falgun the Winter season gets to end and spring starts. The nature starts changing in new beauty. In the winter season the nature becomes rough & lifeless. After the winter the nature decorates her with new leaves & many colorful flowers.
We are wising all the Bangladeshis a Happy Pohela Falgun. Here are some of the things you can do on this day:
- Be colourful and traditional.
It’s a scene every year. People wear colourful clothes and look bright on the streets. They start pouring onto the streets since morning to meet up with their near and dea ones. Every year people of the country celebrate the day to welcome the ‘season of flowers’ symbolizing youth, vigor and love. Girls in Bashonti—yellow–sharees and adorning floral ornaments and boys in colorful panjabis will participate in the various events in a cheerful mood.
- Look out for cultural programmes
The Jatiya Boshonto Utsav Udjapon Parishad will organize programmes, including chorus songs, folk dance, folk songs, dance of indigenous people, and recitation from poems, drama, and procession in the city.Different television channels, radio will broadcast the different live programmes marking the day.
Thousands of visitors will throng Dhaka University campus to celebrate the day and enjoy various events. So ensure that you don’t miss out on the fun!
- Musical performances at Uni campus
Several bands will also perform concerts at different points on the Dhaka University campus marking the day. The crowd of people will grow in the evening when the programmes intensify on the campus and TSC premises. While the security measures, on the occasion, at the entrance point may be beefed up, it will however not spoil the fun.
- Visit Shahbagh
One can also visit Shahbagh and make the ongoing movement over there a colourful one on Falgun. Not that it isn’t colourful enough as yet, but the season of Falgun can give it that extra essence. So go ahead make that change.
- Falgun specials
Watch out for the special Falgun programmes in old Dhaka. One can visit the University of Fine Arts in DU which usually has the biggest conglomeration of students in yellow and red. So ensure that you’re a part of Falgun this year and enjoy it !
