Sri Lanka bowled Bangladesh out for 232 runs in the first innings of the first Test at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Monday.

The visitors were 60 for no loss at the end of the day, trailing by 172 runs with 10 wickets in hand.
Dimuth Karunaratne (28) and Koushol Silva (30) will be in the middle for Sri Lanka on Tuesday morning.
Half centuries from Shakib Al Hasan (55) and skipper Mushfiqur Rahim (61) were the highlights of the Bangladesh innings. Shohag Gazi (42) and debutant Shamsur Rahman (33) were the only others who played contributory roles in the 63.5 overs long innings. The other seven batsmen failed to reach double figures.
Bangladesh lost their top order in the first hour. Tamim Iqbal (6), Marshall Ayub (1) and Shamsur returned to the dressing room within 40 runs.
Tamim couldn’t extend his innings despite getting a life. He was dismissed by Shaminda Eranga caught at deep fine leg by Suranga Lakmal. He was dropped by Kaushal Silva at short leg in Eranga’s previous over.
The breaking of 35-run opening partnership was followed quickly by Marshall Ayub’s dismissal just 6 deliveries later. Sri Lankan skipper Angelo Mathews trapped him leg before
Shamsur was caught brilliantly by Kithuruwan Vithanage at gully off Eranga. The 71st Bangladeshi Test cricketer struck seven boundaries, some of which were sneaks.
Mominul Huq (8) pulled a short ball off Lakmal straight to Vithanage. Tigers were 4 wickets down for 72 at lunch.
In the second session, Bangladesh added 118 runs but lost wickets of Shakib and Nasir Hossain (4).
Shakib and Mushfiq’s fluent batting helped Bangladesh reach near 150 runs after lunch. The hosts were struck hard when Shakib was trapped leg before by Rangana Herath after he reached his fifty. Shakib’s 15th half-century had 9 boundaries and came off 91 balls.
After Shakib and Mushfiq’s joint effort of 86 runs for the fifth wicket, Nasir was caught behind off Eranga.
Mushfiq along with Shohag Gazi added another 53 runs for the seventh wicket with Bangladesh at 203 for 6. But a bad leg before decision of a Lakmal delivery ended Mushfiq’s brilliant fight-back effort.
Mushfiq, who scored four fifties in his last five innings, edged a low ball from Lakmal onto the pads. Umpire Nigel Llong responded positively to the appeal lifting his finger. Mushfiq struck 9 boundaries and played 122 balls.
Bangladesh, having lost the last four wickets within 29 runs, couldn’t have reached 250 runs without the skipper’s contribution. Gazi (42 off 56) played aggressively and returned to the dressing room not long after his captain.
Rubel Hossain (2) was bowled by Herath. Robiul Islam (5) fell prey to Sri Lanka’s most successful bowler Eranga. He picked up 4 wickets for 49 runs. Lakmal bagged 3 wickets for 66 runs.
